Jessica wrapped her arms about her waist.  She loved watching the rain, except for today.  Today it was just reminding her of the misery of being alone.  She had never minded being alone, because she hadn’t really been lonely, but now that George was in her life she didn’t enjoy being alone as she had before.

“Look what you’ve done to me,” she whispered as she looked down at his picture.

“I’m sorry for whatever I’ve done to ye, Lass,” his gentle voice whispered from behind her.

Jessica turned with a gasp and rushed into his arms.  “Oh George,” she breathed against his neck.  “How did you get in?”

“I have my ways, Lass.”  He kissed her temple and held her close.  “Your doorman likes me.”

She chuckled.  “I’ll have to remember and thank him.”

“I already have.”  George whispered as he pulled her back and looked into her clear blue eyes.  “I’ve missed ye, Jessie.”

“I’ve missed you.”

“What were you talking about when I came in?”  He caressed her cheek.  “What have I done to ye?”

Biting her lip, she sighed and looked down at her hands resting against his chest.  “You’ve made me lonely,” she finally admitted with flushed cheeks.

George smiled at her quiet admission.  “I have a way of curing that.”  He smiled at her when she looked up.

“George…”

He cupped her chin.  “I’m lonely as well.  Something I don’t enjoy.”

“But we aren’t alone now.”  She blinked her big blue eyes at him.

“Jessie…” he breathed.  “You know what looking at me like that does.”

“I do?”

“Yes, you do.”  He pulled her close, his lips covering hers.

Mmm,” she hummed when the kiss ended.

“I love you, Jessie.”

“Show me…”

He nodded and tucked a curl behind her ear.  “Nice and slow just like the rain.”

She gave him a smile and tugged him from the window and toward her bedroom.  “Perfect.”  She stopped and snuggled back against him.  “So perfect.”
